EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Castle Construction North East Limited (CCNE) has been in the building and construction industry for over 16 years.  We provide construction, refurbishment and maintenance services to a variety of clients including retail and commercial businesses, NHS, schools, local authorities and licensed premises.

 

CCNE has carried out building work for the Co-operative Group (tCG) since its formation in 1996.  It has provided not only reactive maintenance support to the various businesses with tCG but also provides a high quality, competitively priced, major refurbishment service.

 

Our aim is to deliver an outstanding service by adhering to the principles of Best Value, whilst continuously striving to innovate and improve services to the mutual benefit of our clients.

 

We have built extensions and carried out store refits to a variety of Co-op properties (please see examples below):

 

Project:  Extension to Co-op Food Store  –  Biggar in Scotland

Extension to store by approx 2900 sq ft with associated changes to car parking and refurbishment to existing store prior to relaunch.

As well as major refurbishments we carry out a wide range of projects for tCG including internal/external decoration works and new floor coverings.  We have recently carried out this type of project on several Funeral Homes at an average cost of £8k each.

 

Our ability to provide first class refurbishment services has enabled us to develop an outstanding working relationship with tCG. We are proud to have worked and grown alongside tCG since our inception. During this time, we have gained extensive knowledge and experience working with each of the Group’s trading businesses, and we believe this has allowed us to develop a comprehensive understanding of service requirements.

Our experienced team are capable of managing all scopes of work from tender stage through to handover and in addition to providing these services to tCG, please find below examples of other contracts carried out:

 

• Private development of 14 apartments in Middlesbrough (2 blocks consisting of 4 apartments and 1 block consisting of 6 apartments) including roadways and access, all services and groundworks –  for the value of £950K

 

• Private development of 14 apartments in Stockton –  for the value of £750K

 

• Private development of 4 houses and 4 apartments in Northallerton –  for the value of £1.2million

 

• Easterside School Middlesbrough –  2 extensions to school for special needs pupils  –  for the value of £175K

 

• North Tees NHS Trust –  Refurbishment of 4 No wards  –  for the value of £1million

 

• Darlington Police Station –  Refurbishment of full police station including cell block  –  for the value of £150K

 

 

The following is a summary of the services CCNE provide:

• Construction

We employ a wide range of highly skilled tradesmen which includes bricklayers, plasterers, joiners, painters and decorators, ground workers and roofers. This enables us to carry out all aspects of building work from beginning to end without relying on sub contractors.

 

• Electricians

 

Our approved electricians carry out electrical installation, testing and repairs to current regulations (including IT installation works).  CCNE is a member of the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC).

 

• Fire Alarm Engineers

 

Fully qualified and experienced fire alarm engineers carry out installation, maintenance and testing, and commissioning work on conventional and addressable installations to BS 5839.

 

• Emergency Lighting

 

We install, maintain and commission all types of emergency lighting, including escape lighting, standby lighting, open area lighting and final exit lighting to BS 5266:2011.

 

• Plumbing and Heating

 

Our approved plumbing and heating engineers carry out plumbing, heating, gas and waste installation and maintenance works. All our engineers are on the Gas Safe register and carry out work to the highest standard.

 

CCNE holds a number of accreditations, including and not limited to Gas Safe, NICEIC, Chas, Altius and Constructionline, and all of our staff are CRB certified. This has kept us in line with industry standards and allowed us to broaden our client base.

 

We hold extensive files on Co-operative properties within our region, and have now created asset registers for fire alarm installations and emergency lighting which assist us in highlighting potential problem areas.

 

Our commitment to developing and improving our service delivery can be demonstrated in many ways. We have already introduced new streamlined procedures and have provided numerous cost and efficiency savings. We are committed to sustainability and the introduction of new technologies.

 

This has been proven by our electrical division, who have worked alongside tCG to deliver ‘energy retro-fit’ lighting schemes across the North region. This involved a full redesign of store lighting to reduce energy consumption and enhance ambient levels.

 

We will continue to provide a first class service to tCG with a view to strengthening and expanding our position as a core supplier.  As we continuously strive to innovate and improve services, we will look for new ways to develop our business, which will enable us to secure a mutually beneficial long-term future.
